Welcome to Nellis Air Force Base, home of the 57th Operations Group, 57th Maintenance Group, U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, U.S. Air Force Weapons School, 414th Combat Training Squadron, U.S. Air Force Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Operations School, and the 549th Combat Training Squadron. Nellis Air Force Base is located just 8 miles out of downtown Las Vegas. The base covers more than 14,000 acres, providing ample space for training operations. Supporting those operations is roughly 14,000 combined military and civilian employees across the installation. Nearby communities include North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City. If you're just arriving on orders, enter through any one of the main gates and check in with your command unit and or sponsor. If you have civilian visitors coming to see you, they will need to stop at the Visitor Control Center at the main gate to register for their unaccompanied passes. Off duty, you'll find so much to do in the local area. The Vegas Strip has all the nightlife you've heard so much about, but there's more to Vegas than the Strip.
