Understanding TRICARE Plans
Which plan is cheapest?
For retirees, Select has no enrollment fee but higher copays. Prime costs $61.70–$123.40/month with lower copays. If you rarely visit the doctor, Select saves more. Frequent visitors often do better on Prime.
Can I switch plans?
During TRICARE Open Season (November–December), you can switch between Prime and Select for the following year. Qualifying life events also allow mid-year changes.
